PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) – Police arrested two people linked to cyber attacks on websites of national institution, according to senior police officer from General Commissariat of National Police.
The two hackers arrested on April 7 were identified as 21-year-old Bun King Mongkolpanha, alias Sexmachine or Blackcyber, and 21-year-old Cho Songheng. Both were year three students from SETEC Institute in Phnom Penh.
King Mongkolpanha confessed to a crime, while Cho Songheng denied the accusation, saying that he joined the Anonymous Cambodia group just only want to learn hacking skill, police said.
The police said Department of Internal Security has been investigating the case with FBI in Cambodia for about eight months to identify and capture the two hackers, adding that police are resuming investigation to arrest other hackers.
At least 30 websites of national and private institutions were attacked by Anonymous Cambodia, a group of local computer hackers, before general election in July 2013.
Those main institutions websites included National Election Committee, Anti-Corruption Unit, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ministry of National Defense, Phnom Penh City Hall and others websites.
